ES Windows Fence Installation: The Fresno Owner’s Guide

ES Windows fence installation in Fresno typically runs $3,500 – $9,000 installed, depending on linear footage, substrate condition, and whether we’re replacing a failed section or setting a full new run. We stock ES Windows-compatible fence hardware and panels on our trucks, and most single-section replacements are completed in one day. Homeowners usually find us when a gate post has started leaning after a rain, or a powder-coated panel has worked loose from its rail in the valley heat, or the latch no longer catches square after years of dry, shifting soil.

This page covers what you need to know before you spend a dollar: which ES Windows models and series this affects, what fails first in the Central Valley, what an honest installed price looks like, and when you should just pick up the phone instead of picking up a shovel.

Which ES Windows Models This Applies To

A dining nook with a built-in banquette

ES Windows is known for its extruded aluminum window and door frames, and their fence and railing lines follow the same material philosophy: thermally broken aluminum extrusions, powder-coated at the factory, and assembled with clip-and-post hardware that avoids visible fasteners. The fence panels you’re likely dealing with fall into two families: the ES Vista Series (lighter residential pickets, 4′ and 6′ heights, narrow 1-3/4″ rail profiles) and the ES Apex Series (heavier commercial-grade rails, wider picket spacing, often specified for pool enclosures and perimeter runs in newer Fresno subdivisions like Woodward Park and Harlan Ranch).

Here’s the compatibility gotcha: rail width and picket clip spacing changed between the Vista Series produced before 2018 and the current generation. A panel stamped with a serial beginning “ESV-17″ uses 2-1/8” rail notches and top-lock picket clips, while “ESV-18″ and later use 2-3/8″ rails with side-set clips. Trying to force an old picket into a new rail, or vice versa, bends the clip and voids any warranty. The label is on the inside face of the right-hand rail, about six inches up from the post. If the label is gone, measure the rail width: 2-1/8″ means pre-2018 Vista; 2-3/8” means current generation.

On the OEM-versus-aftermarket question: ES Windows does not sell replacement panels directly to homeowners in most cases, and lead times through their dealer network run six to ten weeks. We keep quality aftermarket equivalents on hand, fabricated to the same rail dimensions and powder-coat color codes (common Fresno matches are Bronze 941, Black 990, and Sandstone 228), and they install with the same clip system. For warranty-restricted jobs, we’ll source OEM through a local ES Windows distributor, but honest math says a matched aftermarket panel gets you a straight fence today, not a packed-up one in October.

Signs Your ES Windows Fence Installation Is Failing

  • Leaning post at the gate. This is the number one call we take in Fresno. The post base was set in a 12″ footing, and our clay soil expands and contracts with irrigation cycles until the post walks out of plumb. The fix isn’t a shim; it’s a repour at 30″ depth with compacted gravel base.
  • Picket clip pop-out. The top-lock clips on Vista Series panels lose their spring tension after enough heat cycles. You’ll hear the panel rattle against the rail in the wind; a picket will have dropped a quarter inch below its neighbor.
  • Rail corrosion at the joint. Powder coat is tough, but if the original installer scored the rail with a fastener or shimmed the post with plain steel, moisture gets under the coat. Look for a white chalky line at the rail-to-post connection, a sign the aluminum is oxidizing.
  • Gate sag and latch miss. A gate that drags or a latch that no longer lines up means the hinge post has shifted or the gate frame has racked. Running a gate with a bad hinge set chews through the lower hinge in a season.
  • Powder-coat fade and chalking. Fresno sun is direct and unapologetic. After eight to twelve years, dark bronze panels will chalk and fade unevenly, and the clear-and-color coat separates. It’s cosmetic until the base aluminum shows through, but that’s the sign the panel’s protective layer is done.

Any one of these is a sign the fence is working against itself. Two or more at once usually means the original installation didn’t account for the soil, the sun, or both.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A home office with a built-in desk and shelves

Let’s talk straight numbers. For single-section panel or post replacement in Fresno, you’re looking at $3,500 – $5,500 in most cases. A full perimeter fence with new posts, rail replacements, pickets, and gate hardware on a standard 60 – 90 linear foot lot runs $6,000 – $9,000. That price includes removal and haul-away of the failed section, a new post footing repoured at proper depth where needed, the panel or rails matched to your ES Windows series, new clips and hardware, and a written line-item price before any work starts.

What moves the number? Post replacement versus panel-only replacement is the biggest factor; digging out and repouring a gate post in packed foothill granite takes three times the labor of setting a new eight-foot panel. Access matters too: a fence run tight against the house or blocked by mature landscaping slows the crew. And if we find the original post footings were undersized or the substrate has root intrusion, we’ll show you the hole before we pour anything new, so the scope is agreed, not discovered.

Every ES Windows fence installation we complete carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise, in writing. If the work doesn’t hold within a full year, we come back and correct it at no charge. The estimate says what we build, and we build what the estimate says.

DIY or Call Us?

For a fence section, the honest split goes like this: you can inspect. You can’t safely reconstruct footings without understanding what our soil does. Checking a post for plumb, noting which pickets have dropped, and photographing the failed joint is useful and free. Digging out a gate post and resetting it in active clay soil, then getting the hinge geometry square, is where DIY runs into trouble: a post that moves a quarter-inch at the base throws the gate a full inch at the latch. The materials are heavy, the hole is deeper than you expect, and a gate under spring tension is the last thing you want a partial fix on. Give us a call at (559) 785-2712 before you dig, and we’ll tell you over the phone whether it’s a repair or a replacement.
