Plant Prefab Fence Installation: The Fresno Owner’s Guide

We install Plant Prefab fence systems across Fresno, and a full fence installation typically runs $3,500 to $9,000 depending on linear footage, gate count, and site prep. We stock common Plant Prefab-compatible posts, panels, and gate hardware on our trucks, so most Fresno jobs don’t wait on parts. Most homeowners call us after a wind event or irrigation shift leaves a panel leaning, a gate dragging, or a post listing toward the neighbor’s yard.

If you’re standing in your yard right now looking at a failed section, here’s the straight read: Plant Prefab’s modular design means individual panels and posts usually fail independently, not as a system. That’s good news if you’re replacing a single bay. It also means the failure you can see is often not the only one that’s started.

Which Plant Prefab Models This Applies To

An open living space after a whole-home remodel

Plant Prefab’s fence line covers a few distinct product families, and the part matching matters. The most common in Fresno yards are the modular horizontal slat panels, the vertical board-on-board privacy panels, and the aluminum post-and-rail systems used for pool enclosures. Each family uses different post dimensions, rail channel widths, and fastener patterns. A panel from the horizontal slat line will not seat correctly in a vertical-board post channel, even if the overall height matches.

The fastest way to identify your part before calling us is to check the stamp on the inside face of the post cap or the bottom rail. Plant Prefab stamps a series code there: H-series for horizontal slats, V-series for vertical boards, and A-series for aluminum rail. If the stamp is worn off, measure the post channel opening in inches to the sixteenth. The H-series channel is 1-5/8 inches; the V-series is 1-3/4 inches. Close enough is not a thing with these channels. For OEM versus aftermarket, Plant Prefab’s factory panels hold paint and powder coat well in Fresno’s UV load, but several domestic aftermarket suppliers now produce direct-fit replacements at about 20 to 30 percent below OEM list. We’ll quote both and tell you which one we’d put in our own yard.

Signs Your Plant Prefab Fence Installation Is Failing

  • Panel leans but post looks plumb. The panel-to-post connection hardware has worked loose or the channel has wallowed out. This is the most common failure we see in Fresno’s clay soil, which heaves with winter moisture and shrinks hard in summer.
  • Gate drags on the latch side after rain. The post footing has shifted. Fresno’s expansive clay swells when wet, and any footing set shallow will move enough to throw the gate out of square.
  • Fastener heads are pulling through the panel face. The panel material has degraded around the screw, usually from repeated thermal cycling. Fresno summers run 100-plus degrees, and a dark-finished panel expands and contracts enough to fatigue the screw holes over five to seven years.
  • Bottom rail is buried in soil or bark. Moisture wicks up into the panel and starts rot at the lowest fastener line. This shortens panel life faster than sun damage in Fresno’s irrigated yards.
  • Two adjacent panels shift together in a wind gust. The middle post has lost its footing or broken below grade. Post replacement is a different job than panel replacement, and it’s the one that usually means concrete work.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A remodeled living room with built-in shelves around the fireplace

A single-bay Plant Prefab panel replacement in Fresno, installed, runs $350 to $900 depending on panel type and height. A full post-and-panel fence installation with gates lands between $3,500 and $9,000. The spread comes down to three things: linear footage, gate hardware, and how much of the old footing has to come out of the ground.

Scope Typical Installed Range What’s Included
Single panel swap $350 – $900 Panel, matching hardware, labor, haul-away of the old panel
Single post replacement $400 – $1,100 Post, concrete footing, re-seating adjacent panels, gate reset if adjacent
Full fence replacement (50 – 100 linear ft) $3,500 – $7,000 All posts, panels, footings, one pedestrian gate
Full fence with double gate and demo $6,000 – $9,000 Demo of old fence, all new materials, double gate, clean site

Every quote we write for Fresno customers is a fixed price in writing before the first post hole is dug. The number on the page is the number on the invoice. We don’t move numbers at the door. The work carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the fence fails inside a year, we come back and correct it at no charge. The part manufacturers carry their own warranties on the materials, and we document every part number on the written estimate so you can trace it back to the supplier.

DIY or Call Us?

You can check a few things yourself without touching a tool: whether the panel has separated from the post channel, whether the gate hinges have visible play, whether the post moves when you push on it with moderate pressure. If a post moves, stop there. A moving post means a failing footing, and the repair is concrete work, not carpentry.

Where DIY goes wrong with Plant Prefab systems is in the channel seating. When a panel isn’t fully seated in the post channel, the fasteners are the only thing carrying the load. A panel that looks straight but isn’t seated will pull its own fasteners inside a season. The other common miss is pouring a new footing without accounting for Fresno’s clay expansion: too shallow, and the new post shifts in the first wet winter. A moving post near a shared property line or a gate with tension on the hinges will fight you harder than it’s worth.
