CGI Fence Installation: The Fresno Owner’s Guide
CGI fence installation in Fresno typically runs $3,500 to $9,000 for a standard residential perimeter, and we stock CGI-compatible posts, rails, brackets, and fasteners on our trucks so most replacements start the same week we inspect. The most common call we get isn’t from a fence that fell over overnight. It’s from a homeowner who noticed one section leaning after a winter storm, or a gate that suddenly drags against the concrete pad where it used to swing clean. Something failed. The posts or the rails or the connection between them gave out, and now the whole run has to be squared back up before it gets worse.

We’re an independent Fresno contractor, not a CGI dealer or factory affiliate. That matters because we match parts to what’s actually on your property, not what a catalog says should be there. Curtis Lane has been running crews in the Central Valley long enough to know that a fence installed in the Tower District in 2009 has different wear than one put in along a Shaw Avenue commercial lot in 2021. The soil shifts, the irrigation runs, and the sun does what Fresno sun does to powder coat. The estimate says what we build, and we build what the estimate says.
Which CGI Models This Applies To

CGI’s residential fence lines come in a few families, and the compatibility isn’t always obvious from a distance. The two you’ll see most on Fresno lots are the Sierra II series and the Coastal series. Sierra II uses a heavier post wall and a squared rail profile. Coastal is lighter, designed for lower wind exposure, and uses a rounded cap rail that looks similar from the street but takes different brackets. A third line, MetroView, shows up on newer developments north of Herndon and uses a slotted post system where panels slide in instead of riding on external brackets.
If you’ve lost the paperwork, the model name is usually stamped on a sticker inside the post cap or on the back of a rail near a gate hinge. No sticker? Pull a rail measurement. Sierra II rails run a true 2-inch profile. Coastal runs 1⅝-inch. The bracket mismatch is the number one reason a “universal” part doesn’t fit. For CGI specifically, we default to OEM posts and rails because the powder coat batch and the bracket geometry are matched. Aftermarket brackets exist, and we’ll use them on a straight run where the color is a close match, but we won’t mix aftermarket posts with OEM rails. The fit tolerance is too tight.

Signs Your CGI Fence Installation Is Failing
Most Fresno fence failures announce themselves long before a section falls. Here’s what we look for on service calls:
- Leaning posts at the gate. The gate post carries repeated load every time it opens. Once the post base shifts even a quarter inch in our clay-heavy Fresno soil, the gate sags and the latch stops catching.
- Rails pulling out of brackets. CGI brackets are drilled for specific screw sizes. When a prior install used undersized screws or skipped the pilot holes, the rail works loose and the section starts to sway.
- Powder coat bubbling at the post base. Irrigation overspray and sprinkler runoff sit against the post collar. Once the coating breaches, the underlying steel starts corroding from the bottom up.
- Sections racking out of square. A fence should read level from the curb. If yours shows a visible wave or dip, the post embedment wasn’t deep enough for the wind load that particular run catches.
- Gate dragging or scraping. That’s almost always a hinge or post settlement issue, not a bad gate panel. Replacing the panel without fixing the post just moves the problem six months down the road.
Replacement Cost & What’s Included

For a standard 150-foot residential run in Fresno, a full CGI fence installation lands between $3,500 and $9,000. The spread comes down to post count, gate hardware, whether we’re setting new concrete or reusing sound footings, and the current condition of the rails. A partial repair, say four posts and a gate rebuild, typically runs toward the bottom of that range. A full perimeter with two gates and poor soil conditions will climb toward the top.
Every bid includes the line items: posts, rails, brackets, fasteners, concrete, gate hardware, haul-off of the old material, and labor. You’ll see the parts cost separated from the labor so there’s no mystery about what you’re paying for. We write the number down before work starts. It doesn’t move. The work is covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise. If a post shifts or a weld fails inside that year, we come back and correct it at no charge. No phone tag, no debate.

You can check a few things safely. Walk the line and note which posts are leaning. Pull a rail measurement if you’re ordering parts. Look for irrigation heads spraying directly on the post bases. That’s useful information for whatever contractor you bring in.
What you shouldn’t do is dig out a leaning gate post and try to reset it yourself. Fresno clay expands and contracts, and a post set shallow or with the wrong mix will lean again inside a season. You also shouldn’t attempt to re-weld a cracked bracket unless you’re set up for it. A fence section under wind load carries more tension than it looks like, and a failed splice can drop a full panel. That’s a liability you don’t want in your front yard. Call (559) 785-2712 and we’ll send someone who knows the difference between a post that needs a shim and one that needs to come out and be re-set in fresh concrete.
FAQs

A properly installed CGI fence on good post footings lasts 20 to 30 years in Fresno’s climate, with the powder coat holding up anywhere from 15 to 20 years before it needs attention. The weak point is always the post base, not the panel. Keep irrigation off the collars and you’ll add years to the coating. Call (559) 785-2712 for an inspection if your posts show bubbling at the base.
Yes, in most cases. A leaning post can be re-set, a pulling rail can be re-bracketed, and a sagging gate can be re-hung with new hinges. Full replacement only makes sense when the panel coating is shot across the whole run or the posts are too corroded at the base to hold. Call (559) 785-2712 and we’ll tell you which one you’re looking at.
A standard partial repair runs one day on site. A full perimeter replacement with gate rebuilds typically takes two to three days, depending on demo and concrete cure time. We schedule the work and show up. You won’t be waiting on a callback. Call (559) 785-2712 for a written estimate with the timeline on it.
We keep OEM CGI posts, rails, brackets, and gate hardware in stock for the Sierra II, Coastal, and MetroView series, and we can source any series-specific part through our Fresno supplier network inside a few days. We also carry parts for KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone on the interior side. If you have a part number, call (559) 785-2712 and we’ll confirm stock before you make a trip.
